SAV in the upper Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers

Jeff Talbott, DEQ - Northern Region (Quads 039, 040, 055, 231)
Our region goes to the upper Potomac River embayment and the upper Rappahannock River from Fredericksburg down river to about 10 miles below the Rt. 301 Bridge.

Rappahannock River: We have not seen any SAV (except for lily pads) on the river, not even below the Rt. 301 bridge (as in years past).

Potomac River: Currently, the SAV has not broken the surface. We have seen them in Pohick Creek, Dogue Creek, and Aquia Creek. A local owner of a marina on Aquia Creek observed that the SAV had not emerged around the docks as in previous years. He also observed the water being a lot cloudier than in previous springs/early summers.
